our story

Our story

The desire to live in an eco-friendly house close to the nature and the universal shape of the honeycomb – these are the main sources of inspiration for the house “Šuuna”. I clearly remember the day when the truck driver called and said that he had come to Brukna with the house. There was anxiety, joy and a great desire to install the house. Currently, our house is also a demo house that can be visited by everyone who is interested to see it. And we are ready to share our story, and if you decide to live in Šuuna house yourself, we will be happy to help realize idea.

It is well known that such projects can be appreciated by people who are not involved. Therefore, we were pleased when journalist Gunta Šenberga visited us and asked various questions for the magazine “Ievas Māja”. Her article perfectly reflects the story of our house.

Love and house – at the same time

The love story and home Šuuna construction story took place parallely. At first, Enriko thought that he could build the house on his own. But a friend suggested that he might talk to a company that is already involved in the production of log houses. So Enriko met company Dores with the name of the beehive. So, the company produced a house with four meter long walls. It is thirty-six square meters, and even a construction permit is not required for a house that size, only the first level authorization, which is much easier to obtain. The main components of the house are produced at the factory. The wall panels are already made with a 19 centimeter layer of insulation, all the components are numbered, packed, delivered by a truck, the only thing to do is assembling the house just like a Lego.

Before the house got delivered, the concrete base for the house was already laid. That is the base on which the perimeter of the house gets installed. Next step is the installation of the support structure, to which the outside walls are mounted with crane.
It is possible to mount the house in three days, just because all the elements are produced with the utmost precision.
After the outside walls have been mounted, it is time for the bearing structures inside the house and the beams. When day one comes to an end, it is time for celebration.
The day after, the ceiling is covered and filled with insulating eco wool. The ceiling is also the roof with two degree angle. Of course, building a house is not a child’s play as it is necessary to think not only about the insulation, but also hydro isolation besides many other things.
Enrico says: “I must admit that assembling the house was fun. The most important is the fact that even a person without any previous experience can do this, they just need the motivation and volition. Of course, one can also hire professionals who will do everything. But it is quite enough with one consultant with experience and do it all by oneself. Just as I did.”
The roof is covered with ruberoid. The roof can also be used as a terrace that gives a wider perspective to the scenery around.

Let’s say that Šuuna house is a beautiful and not astronomically expensive holiday house.
